For many of us, we think about what we are going to do when we retire or why we are retiring before actually doing so. Some folks just jump out without a plan. That works well for some but not for everyone. For me, I went from full time to part time to less part time. At this point, with a little work mixed in with my life, I have a comfortable work-life balance. Though money should not be a concern in my case, there is always lingering anxiety. Having a little work mixed in gives me a little income which is more of a psychological help than a meaningful practical one.
Lastly, I think it is helpful to not only think about what we are running away from but to spend time thinking about where we are running to. Good luck. Eventually, you will figure it out. Most of us do.
