I hear you. The evangelists will find away to dance around the major inconvenience you experienced along with well founded anxiety. Scarce Rapid chargers, broken chargers, occupied chargers... The infrastructure is just not there yet to make worry free EV travel an easy, low stress experience. Mind you, my next car will likely be an EV. I expect no problems with local travel and commuting. I do expect to have to prepare for a Plan A and Plan B (and maybe Plan C) for my frequent car travel of more than a few miles. I tend to drive fast and sometimes in bitter cold weather both of which are bad for battery range. Fortunately I am a disciplined planner. Not everyone is me. When it comes to traveling, an EV is not for a carefree experience. BTW... My GF will continue to have an ICE vehicle as an alternative. For our frequent road trips to remote locations you will still not find Rapid EV charging to be ubiquitous (but gas stations are). It's changing but will take time, money and consistent political will to get infrastructure where we want it to be.
