I’m 71. After a recent short stay in Paris, I was surprised that I still remembered some high school French. I sucked at French and hated it in school. However, it inspired me to conquer my demons and I started taking French lessons (cruise with another stop in Paris is coming). I subscribed to 3 apps (Babbel, Duolingo and JumpSpeak) and am studying like I never did in school — at least an hour every day including weekends. Am I going to be fluent in French when my trip comes up? Probably not, even though that was my original goal. I am still not a natural for picking up language. My goal now is to just learn French for me at my own pace and to prove to myself I can still learn if I set my mind to it. Bravo to you and all the senior learners out there.
